Many commentaries have been written upon the Book of Revelation and many studies have been made. Various methods of interpretation have been employed that can be studies with profit by the student of prophecy.
The common people generally do not have ready access to the various expositions of Revelation, and for this reason the writer, who counts himself as one of them, has sought to provide a brief study of the Book of Revelation, seeking to point out some of the truths that can be readily grasped by the reader from the book itself. While it is true that there are many symbols in the book, yet it is surprising to learn of the number that have been divinely interpreted, and to note the number of events that will be a repetition of events and incidents found in the Old Testament.
While the writer has had access to many commentaries on the Book of Revelation and has profited from and been influenced by such a study, yet he has purposely refrained from quotations expect in connection with comments on chapter eight where twelve commentators are quoted to show the variations in comments and conclusions due to the different methods of interpretation that have been employed.
There is no book in the Bible that has a more pertinent message for our times, and the consummation described in the book may be neared at hand than we think. May readers who profit from this brief study give all praise to Him who is the Alpha and Omega revealed therein.
