Description
The charismatic revival during the past few years in all denominations and in all parts of the world has brought Christians face-to-face with important questions about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. What is the "baptism in the Holy Spirit?" What does it mean to be "filled with the Holy Spirit?" How does the Holy Spirit work among believers? How can the gifts of the Holy Spirit be exercised to the glory of God? What about tongues? How can we tell if this be of God?
The authors present what the Bible says about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. The attempt to show how both experiences and knowledge are needed as a solid base for living the Christian life in today's world. They examine the way the Spirit works in and through Christians, how He manifests Himself, and what He does for the body of Christ.
This book grew out of a series of addresses delivered at a Consultation on the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit held at Eastern Mennonite College, Harrisonburg, Virginia, January 18-21, 1972, under the auspices of the Eastern Mennonite Seminary. The great interest in the subject was evidences by the overwhelming number who attended and participated in open-floor discussion and small-group meetings with students.
Here is biblical orientation for those seeking to live a life filled with the Holy Spirit, and who desire His gifts for use to the honor and glory of God and for the up-building of His kingdom.
